Desert Rails
Drive a steam train 80 km and bonk the silly night critters!
About Desert Rails
Desert Rails is a 3D wild-west train survival game. Drive a steam train 80 km across the desert to Sundown Springs, keep the boiler fed with coal and wood, hop off to loot towns, farms and camps, and bonk the silly cactus critters and tumbleweeds that come out at night.
Every run builds a new line of towns, farms and camps. Distance markers count every kilometre and big signs mark every 10 km. Coins you collect are kept, so even a short run helps: spend them at the Depot on Speedy Boots, a Ten-Gallon Hat, a Big Firebox, a starter flatbed car and starting weapons. Your best distance is saved.
How to play
- WASD: walk, mouse (click first) or drag: turn the camera, Space: jump, scroll: zoom
- E: grab, carry and throw coal, wood and chairs, toss them in the firebox, pull levers and shop
- Click or F: bonk with your lasso, slingshot or foam musket, Q or 1 2 3: swap weapons, H: heal
- In the cab: Z and X (or the Stop, Slow, Full buttons) set the throttle. On touch use the stick and buttons
Tips
- Throw spare coal and wood onto your train cars while you loot, then feed the boiler as you drive.
- Driving at full steam at night leaves the slow Pricklepuffs behind, but watch out for fast Tumbleboos.
- Stop at every Trading Post: a Foam Cannon Car bonks critters for you and a Bunk Car heals you.
- Keep a bandage or two for the bridge at the end, where you must hold off the critters for 40 seconds.
