About Volt Trails
Volt Trails is a 3D electric dirt bike game set in a big trail park. Pull long wheelies, fly off dirt jumps, carve berms on the pump track and race other riders through the woods. Collect bolts, finish challenges and spend your bolts on new bikes, paint and rider gear.
There are three modes. Free Ride lets you roam the whole park with 11 challenges, from a 30 m wheelie to a backflip over the Mega Gap. Wheelie Challenge puts you on an endless road to see how far one wheelie can go, with a sign every 25 m and a flag at your record. Trail Races put you against 4 riders on the Pump Track, the Forest Loop and the Big Park Loop. Bolts unlock 5 bikes, 8 paint colors and 6 sets of rider gear.
What's inside
- A 3D trail park with a jump line, a pump track, forest single track, a big hill, a town with a concrete skatepark and a pond
- Free Ride with 11 challenges such as First Wheelie, The Big Double, Skatepark Combo, Forest Dash and Bolt Hunt
- Wheelie Challenge on an endless road that gets bumpier the farther you go
- Trail Races against 4 riders on 3 tracks: Pump Track (3 laps), Forest Loop and Big Park Loop
- Air tricks: backflips, frontflips, 360 spins, whips, No Hander, No Footer and Superman, with combo multipliers
- 5 bikes from Spark (free) to Thunder (2,200 bolts), 8 paint colors and 6 sets of rider gear
How to play
- W or Up arrow: gas. S or Down arrow: brake and reverse
- A and D or Left and Right arrows: steer, and spin in the air
- Space: wheelie (tap it to stay balanced), pull back for a backflip in the air
- Shift: nose manual, push forward for a frontflip in the air
- Hold J, K or L in the air: No Hander, No Footer or Superman. Let go before you land
- E: start a challenge. R: back to the trail. C: change the camera. P or Esc: pause
- On phones and tablets: on-screen steer, Gas, Brake, Wheelie, Nose and Trick buttons
Tips
- In a wheelie, watch the meter on the side. Tap Space to lift the front and tap the brake if the needle reaches the red.
- Ride off a jump in a straight line. Turning as you leave the lip makes the bike land sideways.
- Pull a wheelie right after you land to keep your trick combo going and multiply your points.
- The minimap shows every challenge ring. Gold rings are ones you have already finished.
Strategy guide
Wheelies are all about the balance point. Hold Space to bring the front up, then let go as the needle reaches the green zone and give short taps to keep it there. If the bike starts to tip back past the green, tap the brake: it drops the front quickly. Bikes with a higher Balance stat, like Flux and Thunder, are calmer and more forgiving. On the Wheelie Challenge road the bumps get bigger the farther you go, so stay in the middle of the road, because the grass at the side is even bumpier.
Trick points come from combos. Each jump can hold several tricks, and every trick you add in a row raises the multiplier. After you land you have under two seconds to start the next trick, and a wheelie or nose manual keeps the combo alive for as long as you hold it. A good pattern is a jump with a No Hander, a wheelie across the flat, then the next jump. Big jumps like the Big Double and the Mega Gap give enough air for a backflip: hold Space after takeoff and let go about two thirds of the way round so the bike can settle before it lands.
In Trail Races the other riders are quick on the straights but brake for tight corners, so the corners are where you can pass them. Lean into the berms on the pump track instead of braking, and ride straight off the jumps to land with your speed. If you crash or take a wrong turn, press R to go back onto the track at your last spot. Winning pays the most bolts, but every finish pays something, so racing is a good way to save up for a faster bike.
Questions and answers
- Is my progress saved?
- Yes. Your bolts, bikes, paint, gear, finished challenges, best wheelie and best race times are saved in this browser on this device.
- What happens when I crash?
- The rider tumbles off, sits up next to the bike and is back on the trail a moment later. You only lose the trick combo you were working on.
- Can I play on a phone or tablet?
- Yes. On-screen buttons appear for steering, gas, brake, wheelie, nose manual and tricks, plus buttons to return to the trail and change the camera.
- Does it run on school Chromebooks?
- Yes. The game checks how fast your computer is and lowers the detail on its own if the picture starts to stutter.
